WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congressman Troy Downing (R-MT) sent a letter to Secretary of War Pete Hegseth alongside Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) expressing his support for the Wounded Warrior Service Dog program (WWSDP) and urging the Department of War (DOW) to continue to carry out the program going forward. Congressman Downing’s efforts have garnered support from Dog Tag Buddies, a Billings-based group dedicated to providing improved daily living and social mobility for veterans living with the invisible wounds of war.

Congressman Troy Downing (MT-02), alongside U.S. Senators Steve Daines and Tim Sheehy, introduced the “Montana Sportsmen Conservation Act.”  The bill returns three Wilderness Study Areas (WSA) to general management. Each WSA is recommended for release by their respective agency’s land and resource management plan revisions and retains certain protections for these WSA’s while providing more flexibility for land managers to mitigate wildfire risk, restore wildlife habitat, and increase sportsmen access.

The bill removes the harmful Biden-era Miles City Resource Management Plan Amendment (RMPA), which will further help unleash Made-In-Montana energy.
